As someone who wore a school uniform for 16 years of my life, I have to say, I love prep.
Blasphemy
1 OctI don’t take sides when it comes to celebrities on the covers of magazines. As long as the fashion is good and the photography beautiful, I’m sold. HOWEVER, putting Justin Beaver (typo and it stays) on the cover of Teen Vogue, which I love, was a blow below the belt. Why would you do this Amy Astley? It’s the young hollywood issue. Justin Bieber is not hollywood. He is…ugh. He most certainly has nothing to do with fashion and I would like to think the Teen Vogue reader has better music taste. In particular older readers like myself, barely in our twenties but still loyal followers of Vogue’s baby sister.
I frankly refused to spend the exorbitant price of an international magazine for a *gag* Justin Bieber cover, however I pursued the portfolio of young hollywood stars on the teen vogue website. So much talent, so many better choices.
I rather love this year’s school themed shoot. It’s delightfully vintage, the fashion is adorable and the talent amazing. It was photographed by Alasdair McLellan at the Venice High School, where Grease and Britney Spears’ first hit where filmed. Here are some of the shots, in no particular order:
Personally, Jennifer Lawrence would have been the ideal choice for the Young Hollywood issue. And not just because they have referenced In-n-Out in this photo. She is wonderfully talented, there is Oscar-buzz already building around her, and please, look at her.
Hopefully Teen Vogue will whip up something better next issue or I will have withdrawal symptoms.
